A senior town planner can get up to 60000 per month. A joint director can earn around 1 lakh rupees a month. And a director’s remuneration can go up to 2 to 3 lakhs per month.
A town planner must have skills of writing report, administrative and managerial. He has to work coordinately with architects, lawyers, civil engineers, contractors, sociologists, and environmental scientists. One must have knowledge of the above subjects, strong analytical ability, logical and mental ability, good interpersonal and communication skills.
Urban planning course includes a Master’s degree in urban development and design. Some institutes have courses in Urban conservation and management. Minimum required qualification in Regional planning and house specialization is bachelor degree in civil engineering or planning, architecture or master degree in economics or sociology. Admission is on the basis of the entrance exam, group discussion, and personal interview.
