Plastic technologists are in great demand as this sector is emerging day by day. Designer and specialist are the key professionals in this field. Other open fields are Plastic testing engineers, mold makers, and designers. Private as well as public companies offer employment opportunities to the plastic technologists in the fields of manufacturing and marketing of plastic products. They are supposed to play a key role in sectors like water management, automobile, transportation and logistics, building and construction, defense, power transmission, and generation. Starting salary for the newcomer is about 10000 rupees a month. Master degree holder can have more salary that is up to 15000 rupees a month.
Practical knowledge of converting the theory into reality is very necessary. Knowledge of physics and chemistry is very helpful; one must have an interest in these subjects. Other attributes include creative mind, patience, hard work, good communication skills, problem-solving and analytical ability.
Basic education is 10+2 with good aggregate marks in physics and chemistry. One can opt for a bachelor degree in Plastic technology. To get into the master degree, one must have a bachelor degree in chemical, plastic, rubber, mechanical or textile. One can also pursue the research work or do Ph.D. after successful completion of a master degree.

The plastic technologist has to be creative enough to maximize the benefits and minimize the damage caused by the plastic manufacturing process. They must have up to date knowledge about the field. They tend to serve in the variety of industries which in turn help them grow in career.
