Dieticians are also called Nutritionists. They help promote the idea of maintaining good health through strict diet food habits. Their role is to assist people in planning diet, having nutritional food, advising on food habits, selecting and preparing the food.

Job Opportunities

Dieticians can find employment in hospitals, health clubs, schools and colleges, government health department, research labs, five-star hotels health departments, and some food manufacturers. They can also work as a teacher at universities. You can also work independently as a dietician. Fresher can earn between 10000 to 15000 rupees per month.

Attributes

One must have an interest in food. He should possess good communication skills, research skills, planning, patience, and good organizing skills.

Eligibility

One must have passed 10+2 with subjects like chemistry, biology, home science. One can go for food science or food technology at graduation and post graduation. At post graduation level, one should follow a one-year post-graduation diploma or 2-year master’s degree in food and nutrition, clinical nutrition or food science and management.

Merits and Demerits

A dietician has multiple job opportunities as this is one of the fastest growing fields. Disadvantages include working long hours on your feet. One might get the job where sufficient types of machinery and equipment may not be available.
