After successful completion of the study, one can seek job opportunities at garment, leather and jewellery designing and manufacturing industries. They can be a merchandising executive and fashion coordinator. Export house, mills and fashion show management firms also provide excellent job placements. One can be an assistant fashion designer to gain experience in the field. Costume designing, modelling, writing can be other career options for aspirants. Income in this field purely depends on one’s experience and place of employment. A fresher can get the salary of up to 15000 rupees per month.

Attributes

Good knowledge of colour, style and shape, ability to draw, creativity, ability to judge material, and current trend awareness are must for the aspirants. Additional attributes include knowledge of streamlining the process of manufacturing, patience, ability to deal with rejection and handling the stress when the deadline is around the corner.

Eligibility

Graduation degree from a reputed institute is a must in today’s highly competitive world. One must have passed 10+2 with 50% aggregate marks. Admission into well-known institutions is on the basis of merit and written exams followed by group discussion and interview. Some of the reputed institutes are National Institute of fashion technology (NIFT), National Institute of designing (NID), International Institute of fashion technology (IIFT) and IEC School of art.
